my wife bought me two english stories of Asterix (The Banquet and The Big Fight) in Cornwall. They are expensive, but of high paper-quality and it is big fun to read the wellknown stories in english, for I am convinced that the english translators have done a fine job. I promise to put discoveries I have made here in this forum. Let me start with a question. Is there a playing of words, a double meaning or so hidden in the name of one of the surrounding Roman castra Totorum?

I don't think so, the only thing I could possibly think of is that it could be named after Herge's - (the rival of Goscinny and Uderzo's), very first work, called Totor, about a heroic boy scout. This work would later have a huge effect on Tintin, and was created in black and white before the idea of speech bubbles was even around. The writing was found underneath the pictures. That same camp was called babaorum in French. This was the same name as an African tribe in 'Tintin in the Congo', the 2nd book.
