The Official Site has isssued its newest newsletter, called missive in the terminology of Editions AlbertRene. This newsletter for the time being is only available in French (malheureusement) but we welcome this glimpse of the Asterix Universe after a long silence of six months.

(thank you Liam for mailing this)
News items include: * activities to prepare for the jubilee 50th birthday of Asterix, next year, under the guidance of le grand chef Albert Uderzo - no details given * new languages for Asterix, number 107 * pages about the many Greek editions (including classic, Kretan, ...) * more too come soon !
Another indication that new initiatives are executed by Uderzo and his team we find in an interview at http://www.fxgpariscaraibe.com/ again in French. Here is what google-translate tells me:
It is a new album? Uderzo: "Yes, an album that will speak a lot of things historic. I can not tell you exactly what's going to save because it's something the reader can discover and hopefully enjoy. I have employees who care much about it ... Well, you see! "

Re: From the official site
As Asterix fans we were a little worried about the official missive, the regular bulletin of publisher Albert-Rene bringing the latest inside news and gossips about Asterix. It has been silent for too long we think. Today we received a new edition by email, but it is also available online, in French for the moment.
Good news is carried by this latest letter. First the Asterix website is totally renewed, first online tomorrow June 2nd in the afternoon. Second the long awaited Asterix 50th anniversary book is scheduled for october 22. It will contain short stories on themes we all love so much from the series. Translations are announced in a quinzaine of languages. (meaning around 15?)
